What do they want to do next?
Ben briefly tried some work experience at a Good Sammys retail store and at an Animal Volunteer Centre. He felt this was not a good fit and had always had a strong interest in computers and the administration side of employment.
Ben then did some work experience at the Good Samaritan Industries office, when an opportunity arose through the Options Customised Employment Program, to do some work experience at the Government Employees Superannuation Board (GESB).
What was the outcome/achievement?
Ben has excelled and proven himself a valuable asset to the team at GESB. He has assisted them with their website reviews and in data entry, along with so many more duties. Now, GESB are working with Ben to set up and provide Ben with a Traineeship opportunity in their Information Technology Department. However, the State Government’s traineeship intake won’t be until next year. The great news is that in the meantime GESB has offered Ben two days a week of paid work.
